Living in Colour: 2006 is about your
colours

2006 is about the colour in you. What shades
do you love? What colours give you energy? Are there tones that
lift your spirit? Decorating trends are taking inspiration from
fashion and it’s time to let your favorite colours come
out of the closet. Dress your home in the colours you love to
wear.
A splash of sweet
Reminiscent of childhood delight, we’ll see an array of
cotton candy and Popsicle shades. Found on the palette between
pastels and brights, colour is being subdued. Toned pink, purple,
coral and green give a soft look, or combine yellow-green and
orange for a tropical twist. The thought of using these shades
in permanent fixtures may be intimidating, so incorporate them
with area rugs, throws, cushions, candles and other decor accessories.
Into the blue
Inspired by sea and sky the new blues range from deep aquamarine
to hues from above. Turquoise turns sapphire and blue tints appear
in red. Drift away in a soothing shade or live it up with vivid
contrast. Create dramatic patterns with various sizes, colours
and shapes of tiling. Make a peaceful retreat by combining shades
of blue and green with a touch of metallic finishes or glasswork
tiles.
Au natural
The pace of technology and speed of life leaves us longing for
a touch of the basics. Traditional earth tones are easy on the
eyes and create a relaxing home environment. Look to the beach,
the desert and the forest for natural colour inspiration. For
paint colours look to soft Sand Dollar or enriching Lily Green,
new from Pantone. Wider floor planks reflect nature and are replacing
the traditional inch plank. Get back to your roots by incorporating
satin finished or oil stained hardwood, or heritage inspired flooring.
Let Braid Flooring help you live by your colours
in 2006.
