During Your Purchase

While shopping for your project, be sure to seek the advice of one of our Design Consultants or our Window Fashions Specialist. Whether you are searching for flooring or window coverings, our staff will listen to your needs and help you refine your search from thousands of styles to a tailored few, so you can choose the best solutions for your home.

Once a manageable sample has been selected, we recommend that you take the samples home to check if the sample will work in both day and night light. This is important as the lighting in the store could give you a completely different look than the one at home.

What the Design Consultant or Window Fashions Specialist will ask you

When interacting with your consultant, there are certain questions they will ask to gain a greater perspective on your lifestyle needs and your home decor. The more information you are able to provide, the easier it will be to determine the proper flooring or window selections for your home.

Flooring
1. How is the room used?
2. What is the activity level of the room?
3. Is there a door to the outside in the room?
4. Do you have indoor pets?
5. Will the flooring cover any stairs?
6. What are the room's lighting sources?
7. What direction do the windows (if any) face?
8. What types of furnishings do you have?
9. What is the style of the room? (Traditional? Contemporary? Country?)
10. What is the feel of the room? (Casual? Formal?)
11. Are you living with this new flooring or are you planning to sell your home?
12. What is the size of the room?
13. Will people be eating in this room?
14. Will kids be playing in this room?

Windows
1. What are the room's lighting sources?
2. What direction do the windows (if any) face?
3. What are the window dimensions (width x height) and the depth measurement inside the window frame?
4. Are there any window obstructions (i.e. window cranks/levers)?
5. Do the doors open in or out on Garden/French doors?
6. Are there any specialty shaped windows?
7. Does the room require a room darkening solution?
8. How important is it that your window coverings help control energy costs in the room (heat and cooling)?
9. What types of furnishings do you have?
10. Ultraviolet light can fade interior furnishings over time. How important is it that your window coverings offer UV protection?
11. What amount of privacy control do you require?
12. Should you window coverings help to control exterior noise or absorb interior sound?
13. What is the style of the room? (Traditional? Contemporary? Country?)
14. What is the feel of the room? (Casual? Formal?)
15. Are you living with the new window covering, or are you planning to sell your home?
16. What is the size of the room?

What you should ask the Design Consultant or Window Fashions Specialist

Because you are probably not an expert on flooring or window coverings, your consultant will not expect you to have all the answers. The following are typical questions that you can ask your Design Consultant or Window Fashions Specialist that may affect the type of flooring or window coverings you purchase.

Flooring
1. What are the differences (strengths and weaknesses) between my flooring choices?
2. Are there guarantees or warranties on the flooring? On the cushion or padding? On the installation?
3. Which features does this flooring have that make it easier to clean?
4. What kind of cushion, padding or underlayment does this flooring require?
5. How long will it take to install my flooring, after payment?
6. How long after the installation should I wait before I walk on the surface?

Prior to making a purchase, your Design Consultant will visit your home to estimate the project and provide you with a cost estimate that details how much flooring you will need to purchase, in addition to cushion, padding and installation costs. During this time, both you and your Design Consultant can discuss flooring layout, mouldings and flooring seams.

Most flooring can be installed within two weeks after purchase. Please consult your Design Consultant to schedule your installation. Depending on the type of flooring installed and the size of the project, you may need to schedule more than one day for your installation.

Window Coverings
1. What are the differences (strengths and weaknesses) between my window covering choices?
2. Are there guarantees or warranties on the window coverings?
3. What features do these window coverings have that make it easier to clean?
4. How long will it take to install my window coverings, after payment?
