Tile Flooring

What are the differences between porcelain and ceramic tiles?

Floor tile is such an excellent choice for your home. It has many things to offer, like beautiful colors, outstanding durability, and a fantastic lifespan. If you want a floor with a lot of versatility, then you’ve arrived at the right place.

Similarities

Ceramic and porcelain are very similar in appearance. This leads some homeowners to think they bought the same product. But some differences may lead you to choose one over the other. So talk to our staff and see them for yourself. Talk to us about your expectations and learn the differences.

Porcelain

Porcelain is constructed of natural only high-quality clay. It is fired in a hot kiln to produce the hardness and density that you desire. The clay creates a through-body color scheme that helps hide any chips or cracks that may occur. It is then glazed with a clear coat, allowing the beauty to shine through.

Ceramic

Ceramic is made from the same natural clay that porcelain is, but it has additional ingredients, like feldspar and sand. You still get the dense and hard surface, but there is no through-body color to see. These pieces are covered in a glass glaze that can help you create any décor-matching appearance that you may desire.
